Trial collections of glass draw just two complaints

A TRIAL of glass recycling collection is under way in areas of St Peter Port.

More than 350 households have signed up to take part in the test, which began this month.

Public Services waste prevention and recycling officer Shelley Nicholls said the two collections that have already taken place were likely to be the busiest.

'We thought in the run-up to the trial starting, a lot of people taking part would probably hold on to their glass knowing collections were about to begin,' she said.

'So in the first couple of weeks we had some backlog to clear, and we should now start to see what we can expect to pick up on a regular basis.'

She said that so far, Public Services has received two noise complaints – one from each of the collections.
