Jack Griffin, 7, and Ben Jones, 8, won a MasterCard competition to be Uefa mascots at Chelsea's Champions League clash against Sporting Lisbon earlier this week.

Both the Guernsey Football Club fans and Aztec players could not believe their luck when they got the chance to walk out onto the pitch with the top players and even high-fived Chelsea star striker Diego Costa.

'This was my biggest dream and something I will never forget,' Hautes Capelles student Jack said.

'I just couldn't believe it when my dad told me I was going to be a mascot.

'I had butterflies before I went out on the pitch but it was fantastic to stand next to the players.'

Ben, who attends La Mare de Carteret Primary, also has dreams of becoming a professional footballer.

He, too, was excited but nervous ahead of Wednesday's match.

'It was such a dream to be one of the mascots and I had such a good time.'
