SHOPPERS were back on the streets of St Peter Port yesterday as well as online as they looked to pick up Boxing Day bargains.

Thomas and Lucy Browning were shopping in Town before they flew home last night to Southampton.

They like to venture out on Boxing Day to see what is on offer.

'It is a shame not more of the local shops are open,' Mr Browning, 31, said.

'We do about 50% of our shopping online and we will probably have a look later online for what is in the sales.'

Mrs Browning, 30, said: 'We do like to go into stores though because sometimes you need to try things on and we would have gone to more shops this morning if more were open.'

Vineta Waite, 40, also picked up some bargains.

But she will also be going on the internet sites to seek out more discounted items.

'It is good to come to the shops and I have bought a few things.'
