A SECOND victim has emerged as fraudsters running a phone scam continue to target islanders.

Following a man being conned out of almost £30,000, a woman has lost more than £12,000.

The scammers told her that a suspicious transaction had occurred and encouraged her to contact her bank.

'The lady immediately called her bank unaware that the fraudsters had kept the line open, with an accomplice answering the call. The victim, believing she was talking to her bank, relayed personal information during the almost two hour phonecall.

'At various points the fraudster asked the lady to turn off her mobile phone as it would interfere with their call.'

Police have advised islanders to not provide personal security information if anyone phones saying they are from a bank.

People should wait 10 minutes before ringing their bank on the same phone.
