Guernsey Electricity offers to move nearby residents for free

TEMPORARY 'alternative' accommodation is being offered to neighbours of the power station while Guernsey Electricity reverts solely to on-island electricity generation during undersea cable repairs.

The utility company said the preventative repair work is expected to take three to four weeks, during which time the island's power supply will be provided entirely by power station generators.

With more of the plant now having to run 24 hours a day, Guernsey Electricity said it had decided to offer some nearby residents free alternative accommodation for this period.

'This is a goodwill gesture and we have been working very closely with Environmental Health Department regarding overnight noise levels associated with our operations during the repair,' said operations director Bob Beebe, pictured.
