Portinfer car park 'worst for potholes'

DEEP, water-filled potholes in a coastal car park give one local resident 'no confidence' in the States.

The Pequeries (Portinfer) car park, situated next to the clay pigeon range, is one of 41 coastal car parks managed by the Environment Department.

Although it was recently inspected, repair work can be done only when conditions are right, according to the department.

Brian de Jersey, 75, said that though he had witnessed 'a huge amount' of pothole damage across the island, this was one of the worse sites he had seen.

'I definitely can't bring my car to this area any more and I nearly twisted my ankle walking down some nearby steps a moment ago. The whole area needs to be better maintained because it's becoming dangerous.

'The potholes never seem to get fixed and I have absolutely no confidence in the States and the deputies to deal with the issue either.'
