Island Development Ltd has applied to build 20 houses and 17 apartments on a field to the west of Manor Stores.

The developer has applied only for outline planning permission so far, meaning few details have been revealed.

But they have been enough to raise real worries among some St Martin's residents.

Jolene Blampied lives opposite the proposed entrance to the development and said the road already had a lot of traffic.

'You get the school buses coming up here,' she said. 'There is also the cars – they can get up to some speed.'
