Two primaries over-subscribed

PARENTS of 13 primary school beginners have been forced to send children to schools they did not choose after an over-subscription in some catchments.

The Education Department has announced it has concluded its school admissions process for September 2015, with nearly 600 letters sent out to parents confirming reception places for the next academic year.

'Once again, we have faced some challenges with two schools in particular being over-subscribed but with spare places available in other schools,' said chief officer Jon Buckland.

He said one issue had been a mismatch of requests for places in the two Catholic primary schools, with Notre Dame over-subscribed while St Mary & St Michael was left with spare places.

The department confirmed three pupils who had chosen the first would be moved to the second.
