While no cars were damaged during the crossing from Poole, passengers were advised to stay in their seats following the woman's fall.

The crossing ended with the Liberation hitting a steel defender while trying to dock.

Regular Condor passenger Heather Aller is originally from Guernsey but now lives in Dorset. She was travelling back to see her daughter Helen Aller and grandson Drew. She uses the ferry nearly every other month and described the trip as 'very uncomfortable'.

'Bring back the good old-fashioned comfortable ferry,' she said.

'I was not impressed. It was very rough.'

The 60-year-old said there was 'constant banging' sound each time the vessel hit a wave.

Dave and Jean Gannon, pictured, described the journey as rough and said they suffered from sea sickness.
