New officer on southern beat

TRAFFIC and anti-social behaviour will be among the challenges facing the newest member of Guernsey Police's neighbourhood policing team.

PC Sophie Robilliard is taking on the southern parish area – St Martin's, Forest, Torteval, St Peter's and St Saviour's.

She joined the team a year ago and has had responsibility for Castel and St Peter Port on temporary placements.

But with former southern NPT member PC Simon Hamon moving to the Joint Emergency Services Control Centre on a six-month secondment, PC Robilliard has swapped operational shift work for the parishes.

'I was really interested in the community side of policing,' she said.

'I have been able to build up a lot of contacts that I wouldn't have been able to if I was still on shift.

'The neighbourhood policing team is about helping communities deal with recurring problems, issues that require a time investment and more of a personal relationship with a particular officer.'

To speak to PC Robilliard, call her at the station on 725111.
