Dr Carol Tozer thanked staff working in Alderney for the manner in which they had dealt with the circumstances.

'Since news of the investigation broke last week, our primary focus has been on people in Alderney concerned and affected by recent developments.

'Senior HSSD staff travelled to the island immediately and remained there over the Easter weekend and yesterday to offer support to members of the community, patients, and indeed our own staff, who were clearly shocked to learn of Thursday's events.

'Staff working in Alderney have shown tremendous resilience and continue to operate business as usual, despite the pressures an investigation such as this inevitably brings.'

Dr Tozer said HSSD staff had liaised with the island medical practice, which confirmed its willingness to see patients affected by the suspension of GP Dr Rory Lyons, pictured,

A sign has also been posted at the Eagle Medical Practice giving advice to patients.
