The 34-year-old, who will take on the challenge next year in aid of three local charities, learned to enjoy sea swimming after taking part in the Castle Swim eight years ago.

'I'm really looking forward to it,' she said.

Sophie was driven to take on the challenge following the death of her sister in Cuba in 2012. A charity was set up in her memory – Lara's Foundation – which helps people in communities around the world learn English. Sophie will also be supporting the Samaritans and Hope for Guernsey.

She is being sponsored by Robus Group, Livingroom, A7 Design, Jon Le Tocq/ Storm Force Fitness and Equilibrium Massage.
