It is part of HSSD's move to update and improve opportunities for people with disabilities, health problems or disadvantages to find and maintain employment.

The official transfer, which will take place on 1 May, is the culmination of work undertaken by the Guernsey Community Foundation and HSSD over the last two years.

HSSD chief officer Dr Carol Tozer, pictured, applauded the work of the department and the Guernsey Community Foundation in progressing the initiative.

'Supporting disabled people in employment, when they need that support, is a key part of making our community more inclusive and expanding the talent pool available to local employers,' she said.

'There are many examples of the States partnering with the voluntary sector to deliver services and we can now add supported employment to that list.

'I look forward to working with the Guernsey Employment Trust to ensure a smooth transition of these important services to the community and a successful future for supported employment services in the new structure.'
