The 33-year-old completed 271 laps of the Footes Lane track, which is approximately 63.4 miles, on Saturday lunchtime after starting at the same time on Friday.

He has raised more than £2,000 for The Rhys Daniels Trust. It is a charity which housed close friends of Mr Carre's while their son, Jonah Gillingham, underwent a life-changing bone marrow transplant.

The local charity provides the families of children receiving overseas hospital treatment with a home away from home.

He also used to play in a band with Jonah's father Geoff.

Jonah, 16, was pleased to join Daz for one of his final laps.

'I can't believe he did it and it will raise awareness for the trust,' he said.

Friends and family took to the track with Mr Carre and formed a guard of honour as he completed his last lap on his own and was met with applause and cheers.
