GUERNSEY Electricity is cutting 17 jobs after a 'rigorous review' of its structure.

The utility did not produce any figures on how much the restructure would save, however it said the job losses were part of its plans to make efficiencies and find better ways of working.
The news followed the company going out to tender for maintenance services. Just two weeks ago, it advertised that it was looking to contract suppliers of masonry, carpentry, gardening and general clearance services.
There are 12 permanent employees in the maintenance area. The tender, it said, was part of the review.
Although Guernsey Electricity did not say where the jobs would be lost, union representatives have confirmed maintenance employees would be affected.
