ROYAL recognition has been given to local charity The Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation.

Founded by Jo and Andy Priaulx and Richard Le Tocq after the premature birth of the Priaulx's own children, it has raised £300,000 in the last 12 years and the hard work of those behind the charity has now been given The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service – the highest award given to any voluntary group across the UK.

'It has gone from strength to strength, I never thought it would get as big as this,' said Mrs Priaulx, pictured.

'I would like to thank the people of Guernsey as well. We are currently working on some very exciting projects.'

Along with launching a new website, the charity was launching a fundraising drive to buy a house in Southampton – to complement the current leased one – known as The Burrow.
