Town Quay layout to stay until end of the summer

CONTROVERSIAL changes to the Town Quay should stay in place until the end of the summer, the Environment minister said yesterday, as she voiced her support for the issues to be debated in the States.

But the announcement has angered Mother of the House Mary Lowe, who only heard of the response to her calls for the new layout to be reverted via the local media last night.

It came as further resentment over the traffic management scheme continued to escalate earlier in the day, as islanders branded the modifications 'a failure' and 'unsafe'.

Deputy Yvonne Burford's statement came after the Environment Board had met to discuss Deputy's Lowe's letter.

'I think it is worth running it for the summer. But Deputy Lowe said if it was still running at the end of the summer, she would bring a requete to address the three issues – single lane, closing off the crossing and moving cruise passengers back to the White Rock – and that's fine.'
