No cervical screening tests for under 25s

WOMEN under 25 will no longer be invited to undergo cervical screening as part of plans to bring Guernsey in line with the UK.

The starting age for testing will be raised from 20 to 25, following advice from the UK Advisory Committee on Cervical Screening.

It is part of a series of changes being rolled out next month following a review by clinicians and healthcare professionals.

Changes will also see a Human Papilloma Virus test for screening samples while from now on women aged over 50 years old will only need to be screened every five years rather than every three years.
