The Town Seafront Working Party, made up of States members and staff, met today to discuss the recent controversial changes along the seafront, which involved reducing the south-bound traffic to one lane.

As an immediate revision, the working party has requested the Environment Department to consider, at its meeting on Tuesday, re-introducing two lanes of southbound traffic from the Crown Pier to the Albert Pier. This will be a temporary solution while further discussions take place.

For safety reasons the informal crossing point will continue to be staffed on days when large numbers of cruise liner passengers are in Town.

The northbound lanes are to stay as they currently are.

The working party has also requested a wide-ranging and thorough consultation be carried out with islanders regarding long-term solutions.
