A VANDAL who spray-painted offensive words and lurid images on properties days before Christmas, has been sent to youth detention after defaulting on his community service sentence.

David Dyson, 19, of Chiquita, Les Banques, St Peter Port, was sentenced to 180 hours of service in the Magistrate's Court for 15 charges of criminal damage and one charge of possession of a firearm.

The sentence was a direct alternative to four months behind bars and Dyson was warned to attend all the community service appointments.

But since March he has attended just three sessions totalling 15 hours.

Dyson, pictured, admitted breaching the order when he appeared in the Magistrate's Court.
