'Overwhelmed' by worldwide support for treatment fight

HUNDREDS of messages of support from across the globe have flooded in for Neil McMillan and his fight to reverse Health and Social Services' decision not to fund life-prolonging treatment for his extremely rare genetic condition.

More than 1,000 people have also signed a petition in support of his case.

The 52-year-old Vale Earth Fair Collective member has been left overwhelmed by the response he has received from friends, family and people who have been touched by his anguish at being refused enzyme replacement therapy for Fabry disease.

An online petition has been launched and publicised on Facebook and islanders have been contacting deputies.

'I have received support from all over the world,' said Mr McMillan, pictured. 'From time to time I have been totally overwhelmed by the messages. I have had tears running down my face, seeing the level of support and love coming towards me.'
