Watch out for those sea things that sting

BEACH-GOERS are once again being warned to watch out for swarms of stinging jellyfish and sea creatures which have recently been spotted along the west coast.

It comes after a 10-year-old Notre Dame du Rosaire student was stung by a snakelock anemone.

Pip Gallagher, a member of the Barracuda Swimming Club and who has dreams of studying marine biology, was at Portelet with her parents Martin and Lindsay Gallagher when the anemone was floating in the water at the far pier.

'It tried to attach itself onto Pip, she didn't notice it was on her arm until it stung and now she has hundreds of little burn marks now on her,' said Mrs Gallagher, who is a scuba diver, said.

'Luckily, she was with us, otherwise we would have definitely needed to go to the Princess Elizabeth Hospital.'
