Beaucamps pupil triumphs over her adversity

CHEERS rang out in Les Beaucamps High School hall as the eagerly waiting, nervous students opened their GCSE results.

Kerry Bowden, 16, was celebrating getting her results, with 2 A*s, 6 Bs and 3 Cs, especially since she did not have the easiest time getting them. She will be going on to further study at sixth form.

'I was diagnosed with juvenile arthritis in November, it especially affects my knees. It meant sometimes I woke up and could not get out of bed to walk. I missed a lot of school, and have been trying to study at home. I focused on trying to get in for the core subjects. It was quite hard, I got my top grades in health and social care and business studies.'
