Dolmens feted over weekend

FOR the first time in Guernsey, there will be a festival to celebrate dolmens.

The ancient and intriguing monuments will be at the centre of Fete des Dolmens, organised by Guernsey Museums, over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

People of all ages are encouraged to come along to various events and meet archaeologists and volunteers from Guernsey Museums at different locations.

States archaeologist, Phil de Jersey, said: 'It's always a pleasure to show off some of our best archaeological sites, and we look forward to welcoming visitors over the weekend.'

Tomorrow, meet at Le Dehus from 2pm. There is no parking, so public transport or walking is advised.

Sunday meet at Lihou car park for a 2pm start. There is a walking tour which will cover Le Creux es Fai'es and Le Trepied.

On Monday, meet at La Varde from 2pm.
