Gary Trimbee-Laine was speaking shortly after the Battle of Flowers prizes were handed out in front of the packed crowd.

With the addition of a laser show on the Wednesday night, excellent local music and the promise of the floodlit Battle of Flowers to come, along with the end-of-the-show fireworks to cap it all off, and he was a happy man,

'I absolutely loved watching the Battle this year, the floats were amazing and my favourite is the overall winner, the Rabbit and Cavy Club's, they grew 90% of the flowers themselves. They were worried it would rain and ruin the flowers, but I mean, just look at it, it is fantastic.'

The show had a 'great future' he said, and new items such as the laser show would be returning, because the crowds had really enjoyed it.
