With six stages and more than 60 acts spanning electronic dance to New York Hip Hop, revellers said the diverse and high standard was better than ever.

The fair, now in its 39th year, is the longest- running music festival in Guernsey and raises money for the Burma Campaign UK, Free Tibet and Bridge2Haiti.

Australian-born Nicole Barnes, 40, had taken her six-month-old daughter Ava King to the event during the afternoon.

'It's my first time at the Vale Earth Fair, even though I've been living on the island for 17 years. 'We are having an amazing day and, having been to Jersey Live, I would say this is far better.

'There is a really friendly, family vibe and no aggressiveness, which I did feel in Jersey.

'You can tell the whole thing is run really well and everyone is just relaxed and looking for a good time.'
