Legislation is now being prepared to allow for all shops to open on Sundays from 11 December after members backed the move by 25 votes to 19.

Some major retailers have confirmed their intention to open, or are immediately

reviewing the option.

Creasey's managing director Peter Creasey, said that as the business owned multiple stores selling a variety of goods, it would have a careful review of which areas would benefit from Sunday opening – but what other shops did would also factor into the decisions.

'I am very disappointed, personally, it will destroy the special, quiet nature of Guernsey on a Sunday.'
