Milkman Daryl Butcher, who delivers to shops and properties in Castel and Vale, felt very let down.

'In time I know I will lose my business and without a doubt there will be others that will go out of business,' he said.

'But I will be able to walk with my head high, but can the States do the same?

'I will carry on as best I can to keep going, but it will come to a point where I am running the business at a loss and I won't be able to keep going.

'I think a lot of milkmen and women will go home tonight absolutely destroyed.'

Following a long debate, deputies voted in favour of Commerce and Employment's proposals, which are set to come into force at the end of March.
