Key projects delayed as States runs low on cash

CAPITAL projects worth £120m. which this States had promised to deliver, are being put on the back burner as it runs short of money.

A shortfall in the Capital Reserve leaves it with £225m. until the end of 2017, with projects lined-up worth a total of £277m.

Plans to re-profile the hospital, develop the College of Further Education (pictured), investigate the possibility of a deep water berth and the Alderney Airport runway rehabilitation are all being slowed and pushed into the next round of capital prioritisation, scheduled to run from 2017 to 2020.

These were all passed as 'priorities' by the States in 2014.

It comes amid the spiralling costs of some projects.
