Guernsey Water: we will find ways to do less road digging

UTILITIES and telecoms companies have said they will be reviewing and looking at their efficiencies following a decision by Public Services that will see companies charged for digging up roads.

Deputies last week supported the proposals.

Those facing the new charges said they sought to cause as little disruption as possible with roadworks but the recent decision would see them looking at the matter again.

Director of water services at Guernsey Water, Stephen Langlois, appreciated the need to deal with the deteriorating condition of the island's roads and to try and minimise the disruption caused by roadworks.

Guernsey Roads' proposal for partial provision of that funding will increase cost pressures on Guernsey Water, Mr Langlois said.
