Cautious welcome for new parish link bus

DOUZAINES and the Bus Users Group have backed the new parish link service, which aims to connect communities across the middle of the island.

The P2 service, being introduced by CT Plus, will also provide options to link into the rest of the bus network, opening up the island to a number of areas that have previously not been served.

It will begin when the winter timetable is introduced on Monday 16 November and link the north of the island across the centre on a 90-minute cycle.

Key points being served include the Princess Elizabeth Hospital, L'Aumone, Landes du Marche, Capelles, L'Islet, Frossard House and Maraitaine Road – for the Vale School and douzaine room.

The route will go mainly through Castel, Vale and St Sampson's and parish officials backed the proposal.

Castel dean of the douzaine Nick Dorey said: 'If it provides extra links that people want that weren't linked to before that can only be a good thing.

'Time will tell how much it is used, but it is worth having a go and seeing if it is beneficial.'
