A NEW type of hearing aid has helped to change a young boy's life.

Jamie Regan, 8, was diagnosed with cholesteatoma when he was aged three, a disease which left him unable to hear out of his right ear.

Since then he has had an operation every year to try to repair the damage.

Now, he is the first person in Guernsey to receive a revolutionary new hearing aid, which is kept in place by a small magnet under the skin behind his ear.

As he grows, the strength of the magnetism will be increased and eventually he will be able to take part in sport and other similar activities while wearing it.

His mum, Tracey, said the new device would lead to far less disruption for him and family life.
