GUERNSEY would lose 'its one and only landmark' if the Little Chapel was not restored, according to one islander.

Denise Le Page Pointon was one of many supporting the major structural repairs that are about to be undertaken at the iconic tourist attraction, which is the responsibility of Blanchelande College.

Writing on Facebook, she said: 'The Little Chapel is a beautiful building and it should be restored.

'If not, Guernsey loses its one and only landmark.'

The Little Chapel has closed and scaffolding has gone up in preparation for the major work.

Cracks have been appearing in what is the smallest consecrated chapel in the world.

Work is expected to take a few months.
