For years the school has made its own 'Heaven Jam', named for its utter deliciousness. The family recipe from teacher Mary Carey is a firm favourite with the island's children.

The first step is to have a lovely sunny ramble, collecting blackberries on the island's spine road and common.

Once the jam is made, the children also make bread and make their own butter by shaking cream.

Following in the baking theme, the pupils held a Great Herm Bake Off to see who could make the best cakes.
