Jonah Gillingham, 17, was diagnosed with leukaemia in June last year but after surviving that ordeal, earlier this year he was diagnosed with an extremely rare disease called atypical haemolytic-uremic syndrome (aHUS).

Since launching a crowdfunding campaign to raise the money needed for his medicine each year, his family has been blown away by the support from the public.

The latest backing came in the form of a tweet from Miss Watson, the British number two.

She tweeted 'I am #TEAMJONAH' while also posting a link to his fundraising page.

Jonah's mum, Sonia, was overwhelmed.

'I am lost for words,' she said.
