Further drop in petrol prices unlikely, GMTA

PETROL prices in the island are unlikely to fall further, the Guernsey Motor Trades Association president has said.

In the UK, the RAC announced it expected British supermarkets and the cheapest fuel retailers to be selling petrol at £1 a litre or less in time for the holiday season, but Dave Beausire said that price had been available for some time in the local market.

'I think, first of all, Guernsey should be praised for selling petrol at 99.9p all summer at various service stations and the public will see it be in and around £1 a litre for sure,' he said.

'The margins we are on mean any more drops are unlikely. Recently we have had drops of 0.2p or 0.4p per litre, they have been very small.'
