Recyclers use bring banks to keep up

BRING banks came in handy over Christmas as people turned to them with extra material generated by the festivities rather than waiting for kerbside recycling.

The paper banks were particularly heavily used by Boxing Day, when collections from the seven super sites resumed.

Trust company managing director Jonathan Robbins, 43, said he was clearing the Christmas excess.

'We're not obsessive about recycling, but we do all our paper, plastic and tins,' he said.

'I think kerbside recycling is a good idea. People who want to recycle will do it anyway and those who might not bother otherwise might be encouraged if it's as easy as putting your bins out.'

Trust officer Anne Le Cheminant said she recycled as much as she could and used the kerbside service.

'There tends to be particularly a lot of packaging with the things you buy on the internet.'
