CONCERNS have been raised over a sudden and substantial increase in fees at two care homes.

Maison L'Aumone Residential Home and Maison de Quetteville Care Home, both not-for profit-homes operated by Methodist Homes for the Ages (Guernsey) Ltd, sent a letter to families dated 5 January that detailed increases in residents' co-payment and top-up fees that in some cases had more than doubled.

Payment was due on 15 January, so only 10 days' notice was given.

A relative of a Maison de Quetteville resident who wished to remain anonymous said the amount she had to contribute had increased by £740 per month.

She said the sudden increase had left her worrying over how she would pay for her relative's care.
