As of Monday, Cornishman Aaron Bray is the man responsible for site-managing engineering projects and overseeing the technical aspects of capital projects and on-going works.

A professional engineer specialising in water and waste water systems, before coming to Alderney he was the managing director of Chenpump, a St Austell-based firm supplying domestic, industrial and marine pumps to clients.

He worked his way up from the lowest rungs of the trade.

No stranger to small island life, Mr Bray has previously spent time working in the Scilly Isles and on Lundy Island.

His first visit to Alderney was for a holiday, indulging in his passion for sea fishing. He has visited the island on fishing trips twice-yearly since then.

He names Alderney Angling's Mark Harding as one of the 'best local ambassadors' that the island has.

He also visited Alderney to undertake contract work for the Water Board, and to aid specialist services to previous States engineer Julie Turner and to Tim Whalley.
