Guernsey rules out housing Syrian refugees

GUERNSEY will not take any Syrian refugees, the Policy Council has announced.

It had been exploring the possibility of taking part in the UK's relocation scheme.

But ministers have concluded that the supporting infrastructure is not in place and there are other legal and practical issues that need to be addressed.

Jersey has already ruled out taking Syrian refugees because it could lead to further UK-based refugees going there under the European Convention on Human Rights.
