VALE residents have banded together to try and fight plans for a glamping site in the north of the island.

The planners have recommended that the application for La Moye House, which would include self-catering units, yurts, shepherds huts and a camp ground, be approved, but the Environment Department board will have the final say tomorrow.

More than 40 people from nearby have objected to the scheme and many plan to speak at tomorrow's meeting.

Dave Bacon has lived nearby for 55 years.

'I just think it's in the wrong place,' he said.

'It's all tiny lanes around here. With a campsite you expect lots of noise.'

The planners have said if approval is granted, it should only be for three years, to see how it would work. There would also be limitations on noise.

But Mr Bacon was worried that once the plans went through, there would be no going back.

The open planning meeting starts at 9am at Beau Sejour tomorrow. Anyone can attend, but only those who have applied will be able to address the meeting.
