YOUNG people are being encouraged to vote to get their voice heard.

The Hub's children services manager, Charlie Cox, who is part of the States' My Vote, My Voice campaign, said the charity was trying to focus young minds on the forthcoming election.

The idea was not solely based around getting young people to vote on 27 April, but looking at all the issues that are constantly in the mainstream and telling them their opinion counts.

'They have a voice, and often it is not heard, for whatever reason,' she said.

'We are encouraging them to get into the political arena, because their viewpoint is different.

'If they do not vote, they are not going to get their say. If you do not vote, you cannot whine, and for everyone who does vote, they are part of that bigger picture.

'It is getting behind people who have the same views as you.'

People can register online to vote at www.election2016.gg.

The deadline for registration is midnight on 29 February.
