Most people seemed pleased with the new plans and were keen to find out more.

Saturday saw the second public drop-in session at the St Sampson's Salvation Army Community Centre, following the first on Friday (26 feb).

The plans unveiled by the Channel Islands Co-operative Society feature 410 new homes and new retail and community facilities.

John Strachan, 73, suggested a piece of the footpath at the top of Nocq Road could be slimmed down to allow buses to pull in and out of New Road.

He also said there should be more disabled parking.

Nigel Bourgaize, 51, was worried about whether tidal conditions had been considered.

'There is not much in the way of overflow parking,' he said.

'It is all positive, it may need some tweaking.'
