The three-carriage vehicle, which will be based on Albert Pier, will travel between Castel Cornet, La Vallette, Church Square, the Lower Pollet, Ann's Place, and North Beach on its 35-minute journey.

'I think it's great that there are people investing in a small tourism business and that they are getting the support to do it,' said Guernsey Chamber of Commerce head of hospitality and tourism sub-group Luke Wheadon.

'I'd like to see less red tape to encourage business innovation when it comes to trying to help tourism. I think this shows that there is optimism in tourism and I feel very positive about the future of the industry in Guernsey.'

Not everyone was convinced though. Commenting on The Guernsey Press Facebook page, Nina Wood thought the idea was tacky, 'kiss me quick', and more like Blackpool.
