Church on the Rock work will make it more user-friendly

A VISION to bring a former Methodist church into the 21st century is beginning to become a reality.

The Church on the Rock has been based at New Road for 30 years, but for more than a century before that the building was home to a Methodist congregation.

Phase one of the overhaul is now under way at a cost of £500,000.

One of the church elders, the Rev. Paul Chesworth, said work had started on a new glass entrance area that is being built on the southern side of the church.

It will make it easier for buggy and disabled access, he said.

'It will be much more user-friendly and a more welcoming entrance.
