Dr Carol Tozer's resignation was confirmed on Monday.

It came just under a week after strong calls for her to go were made at a public meeting in Alderney held to discuss the findings of the Good Governance Institute report into HSSD's handling of the investigation into Dr Lyons.

At the meeting Dr Lyons called for disciplinary action to be taken against Dr Tozer, pictured, and for another senior member of staff to be formally reported by HSSD to the General Medical Council.

Dr Rory Lyons welcomed the announcement that Dr Tozer was to go, but pointed out that she had not acted in isolation.

'By resigning, she has "carried the can" for others who were equally culpable.'
