Around 1,500 people took part and close to 19,000 'votes' were cast in our fantasy election poll, the aim of which was to give an indication of the difference island-wide voting could bring.

The results of our poll, which closed at midnight on Friday, show outgoing ministers Kevin Stewart, Robert Sillars, Yvonne Burford and Mike O'Hara would all have kept their seats comfortably, with the former Education minister Mr Sillars finishing highest in 26th place.

In total eight candidates who failed to win a seat at the general election secured a place under our poll, with seats also going to ousted deputy Sandra James, Lucia Pagliarone, Neil Inder, and Sam Maindonald.

Top of the Guernsey Press fantasy poll was Matt Fallaize, followed by Deputy John Gollop in second place and Deputy Dave Jones in third.

Deputy Charles Parkinson and Deputy Peter Ferbrache, who are both gunning for the States' top job, president of the Policy and Resources Committee, complete the top five.

Only five of the sitting deputies would have lost their seat in the Guernsey Press island-wide voting survey, compared to nine in the real election.

Still a total of 12 women would have been elected.
