She works tirelessly with all the pupils and is so committed to her role as head of creative arts.

Pupils at the school rave about their musical activities and during this Eisteddfod so many of the school music groups excelled.

Described as putting in 'unrivalled hard work', Miss Tennant gives up time during lunchtimes and after school to help the pupils achieve all they can.

One of the nominators, James Thompson, said that all the music groups run at St Sampson's give it an unrivalled 'sense of community'.

Another who nominated Miss Tennant, Liz Woodington, said the teacher was so dedicated to her job and that children at the school get such a fantastic musical education thanks to her, with a huge number involved in groups.

'Both my sons attend the school and rave about their musical activities,' she said. 'They say Miss Tennant is real fun and they always have a laugh.'

Other nominators were Olivia Thompson, Alex Sarchet and Pauline Dempsey.

* The nomination period for all 12 Pride of Guernsey Awards remains open until 30 June. Forms appear in paper or visit our dedicated sister website www.prideofguernsey.com/nominate
