The 14-year-old, one of the sponsor's Next Generation athletes, was at Wembley for the game which saw Arsenal beat Chelsea 1-0 in front of 33,000 fans.

Maya was one of just five players to start every game as England Schools Under-15s won the Bob Docherty Cup for only the second time in 15 years. She handed the trophy to Arsenal defender Alex Scott and forward Kelly Smith.

'It was an honour to be able to do it and represent all the team and girls in England,' Maya said.

'To be the youngest one is a great achievement, it is nice to know that they picked me.'

The Next Generation programme, backed by energy, phone and broadband company SSE provides young athletes with funding and expert mentoring to help them fulfil their sporting potential and create a lasting living legacy for sport.

Maya said it supports her with her role in the England team.

She was pleased that Arsenal won, as it was the team she was supporting.
