New brown parking clocks leave some feeling blue

PARKING clocks in Guernsey are now brown, after a change of design brought about by the recent change of government structure.

The clocks are issued by Traffic and Highway Services, an operational unit of the Committee for the Environment & Infrastructure, and as existing stocks of parking clocks were depleted it was decided to update them to reflect the structure changes.

A spokesperson for Traffic and Highway Services said the only things that have changed are the name of the issuing authority and the colour scheme.

The need to change the name of the issuing authority has come about following the change to a new government structure on 1 May 2016.

'As part of the new States of Guernsey branding each committee has been given its own colour to use to distinguish it from the others – the colour for the Committee for the Environment & Infrastructure (of which Traffic and Highway Services is the operational unit) is brown and it was therefore decided to produce new parking clocks using the committee colour in line with the new branding.'

Public reaction to the colour change was not enthusiastic.
